Inspired Coaching Living Voice Workshops
Living Voice Workshops are based in Vancouver, Canada.
SO WHAT IS VOICE WORK ANYWAY?
Based on exercises drawn from actor training, yoga and meditation, voice practice is the art of connecting to your voice and your body for effective and meaningful communication. Breath and sound fuel the majority of our interactions with others, but few of us are aware of how to connect to that reservoir of power within ourselves. Voice work is about becoming aware of the instrument that is your body in order to enhance and deepen communication not only with the outside world, but with your self.
The techniques and exercises you will explore in the Living Voice Workshops are primarily based on the work of Kristin Linklater (Freeing the Natural Voice) and Stewart Pearce (The Alchemy of Voice). Every practitioner has something unique to offer and it is advisable to explore as many different perspectives as possible. It is only through a gentle and insatiable curiosity that we can begin to discover our selves.
WHO SHOULD TAKE IT?
There are Living Voice workshops for non-performers, performers and everyone in between.
Do you use your voice to communicate? Do you talk to people as part of your job? Do you say "I love you"? . . .
Voice practice is about being human. Telling stories. Sharing our experience. This work is important to every individual, not only for classically trained actors who want to be heard in a large auditorium night after night. Human beings are instinctually attuned to the tones and subtle nuances of verbal communication. Our voices are coded with an abundance of information. But how many of us are conscious of what we're transmitting? And do we know how effectively we're translating the signals that we receive?
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
Each workshop series has a specific focus (see Workshop Packages) but in general voice practice is a great way to learn how to listen to others and to yourself. Using exercises drawn from leading voice practitioners around the world, Living Voice Workshops encourages truthful, free and compassionate self-expression. Private coaching is also available for those with a tight schedule or to troubleshoot specific questions and concerns.
Gently get to know your body, how it works and what makes your voice special. Learn exercises to facilitate optimal expression and reduce unnecessary tension. Find sound in your body and let it fill you with vitality, emotion and possibility.
Your voice is the bearer of your truth, the expression of your individuality. Living Voice Workshops and Coaching will start you on a journey of self-awareness towards an ownership of your unique sound. Regular sessions will build a practice that you can carry into your everyday life and the exercises you learn will provide you with the tools to continue this exploration on your own.
New workshops are always in progress, check the Workshop Packages page for more details.
